Bio

I believe my journey as a photographer began long before I really held a camera. It began with my fascination with the beauty of the world when even as a small child I was capturing images in my head through observation. I loved the beauty of nature, colour and faces and have vivid memories from quite a young age of my grandmothers flower garden and my grandfathers vegetable garden; of each of the plants that grew there and the way the light fell on them at the different times of day. As a child I also loved looking through old photo albums, I remember sitting in my grandparents basement with piles of albums and boxes of old black and white photos imagining what life was like for my parents and grandparents before I was born and wondering what it would have been like to live then.

My grandmother gave me my first camera when I was 10 years old, from then on I was obsessed with documenting life and preserving memories through photography. Naturally I chose to pursue an education where I could further explore this passion and, after graduating from Emily Carr University in 2007, I began to explore a career as a freelance photographer.

In 2012 I launched into full time business and continue to grow as both a photographer and entrepreneur. I aspire to build lasting relationships with my clients, create intimate and beautiful images, to preserve memories and to reveal the inner beauty and true self of my subjects.

I am in the business of preserving memories, capturing beauty and documenting important moments in time, and feel incredibly blessed to be following a career path that is so close to my heart.

Why weddings? I believe in celebrating the choice to love and commit to one another, because it isn’t easy, but it is beautiful. I believe we need these times of joy, hope, optimism and celebration to remind us what we are in it for. Photographs have an incredible power to evoke long forgotten feelings and stir up in us emotion and love. We need these reminders in times of hardship, we need to remember that it was, and is, worth it. We need to see the beauty in the smiles and tears of the faces of those we love and have committed to.

There is deep joy preserved in images of people relating and interacting with one another. It is my mission to capture as many of these moments as possible (on a wedding day), that these joyful memories may be experienced again and again.

Why portraiture? Photography has an incredible power to bless by preserving memories of those we love, as well as revealing our own beauty to us. We do not see ourselves as others see us, we can’t perceive our experiences from the outside, but a photographer has the the power to reveal glimpses of this true self, to show the beauty and uniqueness in our expressions and interactions.

It is my mission to capture intimate, natural, joyful and beautiful expressions of love. To reveal one’s beauty as they reflect the love of another.
